The Life of a Super Organized Mum

For the love of all things plastic

I love Tupperware : ) I love plastic containers and all of the lovely bright colours and different sizes. I have a lot of Tupperware- more than any one household could ever possible need and when friends come over they over leave with bits and pieces as I am always trying to get rid of the stuff. In fairness I was previously a demonstrator and stopped somewhat suddenly and so I ended up with lots of extras.

Anyway enough with the Tupperware ramble and onto the point of this post- Containers. Important/necessary in my opinion to stay as organized as possible when it comes to family and food. Some of my favourite containers are the lunch style containers as I use these a lot. They are great for leftovers and for pre-cutting up snacks for lunch boxes in advance. The products I would recommend as essential for lunches would be-

Sandwich keepers- these are the perfect sizes for holding a sandwich or crackers.
Snacks Cups- the market these for little kids but I think they are fantastically versatile for adults as well.
Small microwave containers- Shown in my pregnancy snack posts these are great for storing left over dinners/ smalls snacks etc.

Although expensive buying good quality containers is worth the money as the lifetime guarantee it provides means it will last all through your child's school years. There are lots of cheaper alternatives on the market though that you can buy at the local supermarkets that would make a great start- Nude food movers are a new brand onto the market and are available in Coles and Woolworths. I think companies like this show a shift in the public perception on plastics and using glad wrap etc.

I was thinking about the concept of school lunches the other day and how hard it must be to get up in the morning and have to think about what to pack. My idea of pregnancy snacks could be adapted to school lunches. Pre-packaging food into containers could be done at the start of the week and then packed each day into lunches. It is much easier to decanted in bulk than to have the motivation to do this every day especially in the morning.

So as your kids get ready to go back to school considering a few things to make this year more organized in the morning- buy adequate containers and pre- pack as much of the kids lunches in bulk at the start of the week, it will make the mornings a lot less stressful : )

Okay, I'm going to keep that pic of your T'ware and show it to family and friends that give me a hard time about my Tupperaddiction. LOL I'm not that bad! ;)

I agree, you cannot go past the containers for organising and nothing makes me feel more organised than a neatly stacked and co-ordinated fridge and pantry.

I love the nude food movers! I hate using gladwrap at the most I will use ziplock bags that I can rinse out and reuse. I love a rubbish free lunch box. I don't offten buy indiviually packed things for this reason I buy in bulk and put in containers.

Yogurt is really good for this and I stole the idea from another blog to buy it in a big container split between smaller tupperware style containers and then freeze. Especially good for where I we live, it's quite hot. And to premake some sandwhiches in the sandwhich keepers and freeze ahead of time.

As soon as one of the containers is used I wash it and refill it ready for next time... This is mainly because I have more containers than cupboard space and if they are being used I don't feel half as guilty about how much I have!

Wow!

I would be ashamed to show you my tupperware cupboard!

You might be the perfect person to ask this question... if you freeze leftovers do they go all icey. I have tried all different containers (including tupperware) and all my leftovers get ice crystals on them within a week!!

I love tupperware, just don't have enough of it yet. Am very jealous of your collection. I came across the nude containers you wrote about the other day in Woolies and grabbed a few. I also love containers as both my boys never stop eating, so always pack lots of snacks to take with us.

Also I went to pick my youngest up from child care this afternoon and he is in the same room as your son! I knew we lived in the same area, but was a huge co incidence that they are in the same room. Mine only goes on Mondays and has just recently moved up to that room a couple months ago.

Dont know if it has been answered.

To help reduce the crystals, first let it go cold in the fridge, preferably without the lid.
The put the lid on (or wipe it dry) and freeze.

It is the steam condensation that makes the crystals.

It looks great all in one place. Mine is scattered through four different places.

I love to use the sandwich containers for the children's lunches and plan on finding some more small containers to put their snacks in for school.
Must check out the Nude link you have posted.
I would love to get back to being a T/ware demostrator like I once was but I dont have the contacts I once had to get me going again.

Thanks for sharing your great ideas and all that!
